About Us
At Irish Mountaineering Academy we provide professional rock climbing training for all levels of climbers at one of the best coastal limestone climbing areas in the world. We are based in Ailladie,Fanore right along the Wild Atlantic way and in the heart of the Burren.
We run a variety of courses from half day rock climbing experiences to 6 week courses designed to get people outdoors and experiencing the exhilaration of rock climbing, belaying and abseiling in a safe environment. We cater for groups of all sizes and ages.

Yes we are fully qualified and insured through Mountaineering Ireland and The Mountain Training Association.
The minimum age requirement for our rock climbing lessons is typically 8 years old, but can vary depending on the location and the specific program. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.
We recommend wearing comfortable, athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes. You should also bring water, snacks, as well as sunscreen, a hat and a waterproof jacket/trousers. All necessary climbing equipment will be provided.
Yes we provide climbing shoes but people with a shoe size of 11+ please contact us beforehand.
No, our lessons are designed for climbers of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Our qualified instructors will provide instruction based on your current abilities and goals.
Climbing does require a certain level of physical fitness and strength, but our guides will work with you to accommodate any limitations you may have. It is important to inform the guide of any medical conditions before the lesson.
The safety of our clients is our top priority. If the weather is unsuitable for climbing, we will contact you to reschedule your lesson or offer an alternative option.
Yes, we offer private lessons for groups of any size. Private lessons allow for a more personalised experience and the ability to schedule at your convenience.
No, transportation is not included but it can be arranged if needed.
For all bookings, we have a 7 working day cancellation policy:
- Cancellations made more than 7 working days before the activity: Full refund.
- Cancellations made within 7 working days: No refund.
